School Bag Blues

In mourning we cherish Linda Lee
Lost so young to tragedy
Trudging along to school one day
Near fifty pounds her school bag weighed
She hunched her back and craned her neck
Her posture was an utter wreck
The pile of books upon her back
Caused her wobbling knees to slack
She slowly bent down to the floor
Like a turtle on all fours
And that’s when something truly strange
Occurred as she began to change
Her back transformed right where she fell
Into a giant turtle shell
So now she walks a turtle’s pace
And smiles inside a turtle face
(Because you see, it’s not too cruel
Cuz now she’s free from goin’ to school)
And so concludes the elegy
Of dearly departed Linda Lee
