I begged my Grandma: “Pleeeaaaseee?” And she said: “Honey, ain’t nobody gonna get what they want by screamin’ at me.” So I told her: “I hate you!” And she said: “I can’t let hate change me, my girl. Who would I be if I did?” Then I tried, “I’ll be so good, I promise!” My Grandma said: “And what would that prove, my love?” I went on the attack: “You never let me do anything!” And she said: “Honey, you can choose to see it that way, if it helps.” So I said, “Why?” And my Grandma said: “Because, child. I love you.” I said: “Then prove it!” And she said: “I already am.” So I said: “See it from my point of view!” And my Grandma said: “Well, you ain’t yet shared with me, your point of view.” And so, I sat, for a moment, in consideration. And then I finally said: “I love you, too.” 2017
